- A model of delinquency was constructed based on social control &
- social learning theories, to specifically examine how parenting
- factors, social skills, value commitments, & problems in school
- contribute to adolescents' association with deviant peers &
- involvement in delinquent behavior. The model was tested using a
- sample of 61 families, all including a seventh grader. Questionnaires
- & coded videotaped family interaction were employed as measures of
- study constructs. The results largely supported the proposed models. 1
